DESCRIPTION:
With Sword and Pistol is a cracking good collection of short stories "With Sword and Pistol" is a collection of four previously published short stories by Mr. Erdelac. As he notes in his introduction, the stories are only related by the fact that the protagonists of each story may be a little less than heroic, but they all use either sword or pistol. The stories themselves range from feudal Japan, to 19th Century pirates, to Sinbad, and finally, to 21st Century Chicago street gangs. Each story was well written, using language and dialect that set each one apart. Eac. Erdelac which, if not for the final story, could have easily been classified as a Sword and Sorcery work. As such, it's now, instead, a collection of three Sword and Sorcery stories as well as one dark urban fantasy one. This dissonance is kind of annoying but is mitigated heavily by the fact three of the four stories are very good. The fourth? Mostly good. The first story in this collection reminded me of that, as protagonist Kumada Sadahiko proved his expertise at decapitation and overall slicing and dicing. This first selection involves jikininki, a type of zombie, and it was so g
