Covers all the ordinary stages of prayer from vocal to contemplation. An excellent, basic, how-to manual for prayer from beginner to contemplative. I saw this book was recommended by Fr. Reginald Garrigou-Lagrange (hope I spelled that correctly) and when I purchased it, saw it came with an introduction by Augustin Poulain, S.J., both of whom are power-houses in their own right on prayer and mystical theology. Pope St. Pius X wrote a glowing letter of recommendation as well. Very old, and hence, very solid.. Prayer I found this work hard to read. It is a powerful expose on how to pray meaningfully. I have learned many new thoughts on praying the mental frame of mind to be in when talking to God. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to pray more meaningfully..
