(Spoilers ahead) The book itself was well written and a pretty good book for a debut but for me it wasn't a 5 star romance. I felt that Diego (gay guy) and Amy (gay girl) had WAY more chemistry than Amy and Casey (gay girl) and that throws a wrench into a book in this genre don't ya think? In the first 50% of the novel it was like Casey hated Amy and all Amy did was ogle Casey's body. They were rarely even in the same place at the same time whereas Amy and Diego spent tons of time together talking, getting to know one another, having fun together, cuddling, etc. So then at about 55-. Excellent debut novel! Susan Meagher "The Set Piece" is the story of a woman who strikes a bargain to pull herself out of a tough financial situation--then discovers she may have sold more than just her time.The book revolves around people who are soccer players--past and present, but it isn't bogged down with re-creations of matches or anything technical. Catherine gives you the feel for people who love the game, while not making *you* have to love it to enjoy the book. That's a tough line to follow, and I think she does a superb job of it.The characters were appealing, clever, and they had depth. Even the minor chara.
