Harry is an interesting character with a many quirks and personal conflicts, and the plot kept moving with a lot of interesting twists and turns along the way.However, Nesbo relies too much on fantastic coincidences to keep his plots going. The maj. Good story but not up to par. ABroadsview It may be me, and I can't quite put my finger on it, but something is not quite up to snuff in this (4th) Harry Hole mystery. Harry is still the genius alcoholic anti-hero, the mystery is complex, and educational. And yet.

The novel alternates between Harry's sleuthing and a Croatian assassin's attempt to evade him long enough to escape the city. However, several shifts between Harry's sections and those of the little redeemer are so abrupt—narrated by that same well-modulated voice—it may take listeners a moment to realize whose story is being told. Since the author packs his fast-paced scenes with crucial details easily missed, Lee's clear, crisp rendition is a blessing.
