This is a great read. The author has written much about Russia Philip L. Capp This is a great read. The author has written much about Russia and relations with other European countries. He is very insigtful and his stories are well told revealing history in a setting that appears true to life though is not claimed to be precisely accurate history in detail. This is not my first book I have read by Solzhenetsyn. A very enjoyable read.. Not Essential Reading for Fans of Solzhenitsyn Solzhenitsyn's blow by blow account of his dealings with the KGB and Soviet censorship is, at best, an acquired taste. Much of it is repetitive and Solzhenitsyn himself apologizes for going into such minute detail on more than one occasion. Those looking for any insight into his ideas or his personal life will be disappointed. Even so, the book is of interest in explaining to Western readers what censorship . "Great to find this." according to Pilgrim. I was searching for this first edition as a gift for a friend. It arrived in timely fashion and in good condition as described. Very appreciative!
