When writers tells us history as a novel, they catch our attention with events and personal histories. I really like when they (Lewis, Clark and the whole group) had to vote, the writer said: historical vote, a negro and a woman were able to vote.. KCC said Good but requires diligence. This deserves 5 stars for authenticity -- but loses a star for being hard to follow. Not the book's fault -- it is what L&C wrote! It does provider the flavor of the time.The book Lewis & Clark by Ralph Andrist is much easier to read, tells a good story based on the journals with other background.
