DESCRIPTION:

"The House That Cleans Itself is an excellent book aimed toward the 'cleaning impaired.' Author Mindy Starns Clark's plan shows that trying to change ourselves to become great housekeepers isn't going to work; we must analyze the reasons for the clutter and change the house first to allow for the family's habits. She also stresses throughout the book that if a particular plan doesn't work for you, don't do it—and she offers alternatives to help take care of the problem. Even if a reader does not want to follow the entire plan, this book contains many tips and suggestions that can help a person easily get the housecleaning manageable and to the point where she does not have to be embarrassed if anyone drops by unexpectedly. S. McDonald said Life-changing. Not to overstate things, but when I began reading this book, I was extremely burdened with guilt and shame about the state of my house. I could not figure out why housekeeping was so much harder for me, than for other people. As I read, lightbulbs came on and on and onI realized that our entire house was one big process failure. Using cues from the author, I was able to conduct a level-headed systems analysis of our house. I even used some Lean and Six Sigma tools to do it! It was both exhausting and validating to realize how many problems we had unwittingly engineered. We weren't the problem, our house was!Giving ourselves permissi. A Fresh Way to Look at House Organization Melissa Mendez This book is definitely different from other housekeeping books I've read. Personally, I already kind of do what she suggests, though it was very refreshing to have someone put it into words and give a method for implementing it. I tackled my entry room after reading this book and now my entry room stays pretty clean. I had a bench that stayed messy no matter what, because the kids would dump their bags and coats on it. Only my oldest would hang up his coat, because he was the only one who could reach the hooks! And don't get me started about shoes. After reading the book, I went out and bought a four by four cubby shelves, some nic. Highly practical method you customize for YOU I have thoroughly scanned this book so far, and read in depth a few areas. It was suggested in a comments section related to organizing lightly-worn clothing ("grey" clothing). There are biblical references ahead of each chapter, and an entire one devoted to prayer not sentiments I share, but the author's overall philosophy of organizing according to your real tendencies definitely speaks to me. I realized I already had thought of doing a bit of this, and this book confirmed that I've been on the right path for ME.
