DESCRIPTION:
"From the home of Georgian architecture" according to misterbeets. This book talks mostly about British examples, but should be all the more interesting to Americans because of it, since everything here is but a copy of everything there. The first few chapters contain a lot of interesting and detailed history, but the emphasis eventually turns to. Georgian Homes Revealed Erik M. Anderson This is an excellent book for someone restoring a Georgian home in Britain, however it is rather limited on American Georgian homes. I was looking for information about Georgian homes in general for a future new construction here in America, so the information was decent at best f. "Beautiful" according to MM. This is a beautifully photographed and thougtfully presented volume which is educational as well as a joy to behold. Lovely for gifting.
Steven Parissien is Deputy Director of the Mellon Centre in London and former Education Secretary of the Georgian Group, the organization devoted to preserving Georgian architecture in Britain. His previous books include Adam Style, Regency Style, and Palladian Style.
The most complete study of the historical development and importance of the Georgian style, this book is also a practical guide to preserving and restoring a Georgian house.. The Georgian house - whether on a Georgetown street or in a leafy suburb- is considered among the most desireable and comfortable of homes. Houses built over two hundred years ago still stand as proud and dignified as when they were first erected. The Georgian style has stood the test of time, and continues to be popular today. Chapters are also devoted to each element of the house to help understand the ideas, techniques, and materials employed by the original builders. The book describes the development of the Georgian style, beginning with its intro in the early 18th century up to the mid 19th century
