It comes with a hand-sized disk for quickly calculating the greater movements with host and guest qi for each year. The disk is worth the price of the book alone as it can save some time in the clinic. I disagree with some of the author's assumptions on how to incorporate the source material in. graywood said Stems and Branches. This author has done a great deal of research on a very complex concept, and has done a good job on explaining it in terms that the occidental mind can easily grasp. I recommend this book for anyone who wishes to understand the approaches to acupuncture treatment on a much deeper level than is commonly taught in modern schools.. "for advanced students and professionals" according to Chinadoc. This covers the heavenly aspect of timing in acupuncture and is carefully supported by classical texts. Without it you are not exemplefying the medicine which is outlined in the classics, but rather doing a watered down version of it.
