Torrey presents his case from the perspective of one who seeks to submit himself to the power and direction of God's Spirit, in contrast to a detached discussion of the doctrine. His point is that the conscious filling of the Holy Spirit is essential for effective service. I do not classify myself as either Pentacostal or Third Wave. I stand in the camp of traditional orthodoxy, but have become convinced that my tradition has undervalued the work of the Holy Spirit and the necessity of living in a manner worthy of the Lord as an essential ingredient of appropriating. "Five Stars" according to jp. excellent book highly recommended. "Simple and direct teaching about a controversial topic" according to D. Keating. There is a lot of disagreement over the topic this book discusses. I am thankful that RA Torrey does a great job of presenting how the baptism with the Holy Spirit works based on what Scripture teaches.He really does an excellent job explaining the following topics:1.
