Techniques by Chaffe another gold mine of information and insights. Peter Swan Gary Chaffee's series of books are incredible. They have so much information and conceptual material that can totally revamp the way a person approaches drumming and improvising. The ideas underly the technical and intellectual demands of any style of music. I must admit to being intimidated at first and put off working through them for a long time.. "A Good Approach to Better Control" according to A Customer. This is a good book that really synthesizes ideas that are found in a couple of other books. Technique Patterns could be aptly retitled "Stick and Bass Drum Control." Having said that (and owning, using, and liking the other books), I'm still very glad I bought Technique Patterns. I studied these patterns back in 1980. I'm now getting back into drumming after many years off. They are great to practice with. Very creative. Your limbs will become more independent.
