One drawback is thatthe only database considered is MongoDB, ignoring other NoSQL and relational DBs, but the idea here is that you import your data, wherever it comes from, into MongoDB for BI analysis, so it is not that bad.The core chapters are about understanding your data and performing data analysis on it, showing how to perform the most common operation. General Introduction to Working With Data In Python/Pandas Python Business Intelligence Cookbook is a good introduction to the basics of Pandas and working with csv files and MongoDB. One of the books few shortcomings is the lack of recipes showing interaction with a traditional RDBMS. While it can be understood that due to the variety and intermediate complexity that accessing a SQL database directly is out of scope for the book, it would have been nice. "Good for Python developers wanting to add BI functionality" according to Ed P. If you are Python programmer introducing BI functionality to your applications then this would be a good starting point. The content is reasonably good, but for many of the tasks covered, similar results could be achieved much quicker and easier with dedicated Business Intelligence tools for ETL and reporting.
