DESCRIPTION:
For the initiated, though, this makes an excellent companion guide--rich in exercises and meditations to help readers get out of their minds so they can live more peacefully in their bodies. Ultimately, Tolle leads readers into a new form of thinking (or actually not thinking) that erases the consuming habits of waiting, worrying, and being in fear. This manual-style book instantly dives into Eckhart Tolle's principles of "living in the moment," which could be a jarring experience for readers who haven't read his preceding book, The Power of Now. The first step is ending the "delusion of time." He asks, "Are you always trying to get somewhere other than where you are? Is most of your doing just a means to an end?" If so, Tolle has a book full of advice for you. --Gail Hudson. All concepts will be revealed (or at least more carefully explained). As simpli
Since 1995 he has lived in Vancouver, Canada. At the age of twenty-nine a profound inner transformation radically changed the course of his life. The next few years were devoted to understanding, integrating, and deepening that transformation, which marked the beginning of an intense inward journey. As simplistic as this may sound, Tolle's work has spiritual merit and depth, especially for frantic Westerners who find their lives diminished by packed schedules and busy-ness.. Good stuff. I have read The Power of Now and A New Earth, and have since bought Practicing the Power of Now and Stillness Speaks and am halfway through each. I have to tell you, I am changing. Something has happened, and I am not afraid anymore. It took more than just reading one book. I had to keep flooding myself with these teachings and practicing them. At first I agreed with the words but I didn't feel the peace, at least not for long. I would read and feel it but the teachings would recede quickly to the back of my mind, allowing the usual judgments and fear to come to the front. These little hard. As always Eckhart is the voice of enlightenment in a Amazon Customer As always Eckhart is the voice of enlightenment in a still struggling world. Through his books, I can see the light in humanity when before I had lost hope. Practising the Power of Now has helped me find stillness in my day to day life, and I am eternally grateful for this gift.. Great Condensation with Meditative Focus For those who have read "The Power of Now," and found the meditations inspiring, you will love this little book. It lacks the lengthy question and answer passages of the original and focuses on meditations that will help you watch yourself in the present. One reviewer ("dorak") complains that this is a "watered down" version of the original and "does not feel to contain its essence." While I think is it true that this small book cannot wholly substitute for the original, it makes a great "portable adjunct." You can put it in your coat pocket or purse and take it anywhere. In another critical
