A very STRONG Four Stars Bill Reich The word "rollicking" conveys the sense of this novel very well. It is high-fantasy adventure with some comic undertones and extremely likeable characters. Even the lesser villains gain some sympathy, even from the avenging questor. The setting is a huge and detailed world, one that the author has been creating and exploring for many years. I usually don't like fiction (or gaming environments) where it is common for people to decide to be "adventurers." In this novel, this is fairly common and they even have a damn _guild_ But that didn't slow down the adventure for me much at all. There is a lot of action and t. High Fantasy, High Fun The primary plot arc of Phoenix Rising is one of the most classic in fantasy: Kyri Vantage must discover who killed her parents and avenge them. Most of the twists in the immediate plot are also very classic: a reason to accomplish this herself, the search for legendary aid (a weaponsmith, in this case), the blessing of a god, etc. The plot twists flow naturally from the world background; for example, the god needs Kyri at least as badly as she needs him, for reasons that make perfect sense in context. All of that makes this a good solid read in the high fantasy quest mold, but what really makes this book shine . "Ancient War and New Contenders" according to Arthur W Jordin. Phoenix Rising (2012) is the first epic Fantasy novel in this series. It is set on the planet of Zarathan, the World of Magic. Only one large continent is known, but it is surrounded by countless islands of various sizes.Civilization on Zarathan goes back a half a million years, but accurate records only go back to the last Chaos War. The oldest civilization was founded by the Dragons in the city usually called Zarathanton by humans. This old city still exists under the Sauran kings.Humans are latecomers on Zarathan. They existed before the last Chaos War, but who knows how long they had been on the planet. Non

About Phoenix Rising: “A winner! Phoenix Rising gripped me and drew me in. Those companions include valiant swordsman Tobimar Silverun, Prince of Skysand, exiled on the turn of a card and a prophecy, who is now seeking his people’s lost homeland; and Poplock Duckweed, an unlikely hero whose diminutive size is a
