Very cute book I got this for my daughter who loves Spongebob. I'll give it to her for her birthday. The book is thin, but a full story. It is good for beginner readers and the pictures are bright and fun. Great for a birthday present.. time to read Our grandson is just learning to read. He loves most books, but finding Step-Into-Reading books featuring his favorite characters has really thrilled him. The words used are mostly simple ones. Those he does not know or cannot think out, we're encouraging him to sound out. His confidence grows with each book!. "Think really is for kids just starting to read on their own" according to Tlo, Mom of 2 boys. I clearly should have looked more closely at the reading level on this one. I bought it for my 7 yr old who loves SpongeBob. I thought it would be cute to give him a SpongeBob Birthday themed book. This book has a dumbed down story that I doubt will hold his interests unlike the other SpongeBob books we have read.
