DL said A must-read for all animal lovers - I loved this book!. I thoroughly enjoyed this well written, inspirational and emotionally moving book. O'Toole provides insight into "life in the trenches" rescuing the furry victims of Hurricane Katrina. She accurately captures the heartbreaking situation down there and manages to tell her story with some humor thrown in. The book also wisely provides concrete and helpful advice on how to protect your own pets during a disaster. She also provides valuable information on the current state of homeless animals and how anyone can help all of those homeless pets today who. A great read. As a volunteer who worked to reunite Katrina survivors with their pets I reluctantly picked up O'Toole's book. The subject matter had me anticipating a cover-to-cover sob-fest. But I put personal reluctance aside to give the animals and the people who went through that disaster a voice they desperately need.
