Thus, I'm always happy to discover some good factual reading material presented at a level that children can enjoy. A big thanks to April Pulley Sayre, who has written more than 55 natural history books for children and adults. With her most recent offering, we get the opportunity to learn about howler monkeys.This book serves a dual purpose, with two distinct sections on each page. The larger font provides a bit. "charming" according to Kirsten G. Cutler. The reader is introduced visually to the Howler Monkey family on the title page: Papa, Mama, Brother, Baby, and Sister. The following double-spreads each have a charming quatrain, "Baby hitches rides/on his mama's fur. But no one says he's lazy/ or too big for her", and a few sentences of facts about the monkeys. Another rhyme tells about Brother Monkey, "Brother rests a lot--/he hunches, lips curved down. /Yet no one ever asks him/ if he's feelin' down". The muddy colored illustrations created. Engaging Book April Pulley Sayre has created a wonderful book about howler monkeys that will be a huge hit with children. Most children love monkeys, and this book reinforces that love through an exploration of a typical howler monkey family.
