Enjoyable factual colorful history JAthey This is an excellent short history of the Magna Carta, the events and people behind its creation, what it was intended for, and how its influence has developed over the past eight centuries. Only 54 pages long with lots of colorful pictures, this book covers the bases for the reader who wants to learn about the Magna Carta without invoking the usual 450-page tome on a subject like this. The author, though, is not writing for children: For example, she provides ample support for her argument that what we today think is most important in the Magna Carta -- freedom from royal persecution and the right to a trial by our pe.
