A great read! One of the best books I read this summer. I found the story of a young man in search of a great uncle who had effectively disappeared during WWII to be enthralling and couldn't wait to find out what had happened to him. The book spans several centuries and takes the reader on a journey from Israel to Germany, France and back again. Highly recommended.. His driving force is a question leading him on a journey which turns out to be a priceless tale of history, war and family. And the question is, will Samuel find out what happened to his great uncle? I refuse to include spoilers for future readers.More importantly, it's a story about Samuel and his. A good read -- with good learning on the side! A lot of research went into this book and I learned things about Maccabean athletes before and during WWII that I never knew before; also about some aspects of the War in France. In between the history the book is about friendship, personal discovery and contemporary life in Europe and Israel. A definite good read!
