I finally started playing 2.5 years ago. since then it has been a marvelous ride! i wish this book was there when i first started because there's tons of things to weed through as a beginner, this book has it all even if you are a few years into playing there is much to gain from the fiuddle for dummies book. I got mine for my kindle and it works really great. Starts out slow with the basics, including reading music- covers different styles (Irish, Bluegrass, ect.) and has lots of songs This book is very well organized and has a lot of online audio and video demos to help as well.It starts out with the basics that beginners will appreciate, but just looking through that section (because I can already play) I learned a bit about proper bow placement. Important tips about strings are included- like don't go for gut strings because they are for 'fancy' playing, not fiddling. The book is very methodic in its progression of instruction.
