Start with solid history along with plenty of action, sex, and brutal violenceSmith’s fans in general and fans of Taita from the Egyptian series will be pleased.” (Library Journal)
Another disappointing book from one of the great writers of our time Chris S. The writing was acceptable but the story moved very slowly. I continue to be disappointed in Wilbur Smith's books that have come out over the past 5 years or so. It really feels like someone else is writing these books because they lack the quality I came to rely on with a Wilbur Smith novel. This will be the last time I buy one of his books. I am grateful for the many truly extraordinary books that Mr. Smith has written over the years that brought me such pleasure.. That said he is still a remarkable writer and I was pleased to read this book D. M. Davis Although I am most appreciative of Wilbur Smith's writing style and his knowledge of ancient Egypt, I found this book not nearly as rich in story as River God. That said he is still a remarkable writer and I was pleased to read this book.. "The rest are better" according to David Martin. This is the first of a series. Had I read this one first I would never have read the others, which I enjoyed very much. If you have not read the next ones of the series, don't be thrown by this one.
Game of Thrones meets ancient Egypt in this magnificent epic from one of the world’s biggest-selling authors—a novel that conjures the magic, mystery, romance, and bloody intrigue of a fascinating lost world .On the gleaming banks of the Nile, the brilliant Taita—slave and advisor to the Pharaoh—finds himself at the center of a vortex of passion, intrigue, and danger. With the future of Egypt itself on his shoulders, Taita enters a world where the line between loyalty and betrayal shifts like the desert sands, evil enemies await in the shadows, and death lingers on the edges of darkness.“A thrilling tale as magical as it is enlightening—not just about history, but about the heart of a heroic man.”—James Rollins, New York Times bestselling author of The Bone Laby
