Over thirty years ago Helena Deveraux and her infant son died, the secret of their violent deaths buried by the powerful Old Man Deveraux
An Excellent Read I haven't finished this book yet but have really enjoyed it so far. I think Gwen Hunter is an exceptional suspense writer.. A slow Southern drawl of a mystery This was beautifully written, with a sympathetic heroine who has just had her world shattered by her husband's death, only to discover that he was not quite the man he thought she was. Drawn into an investigation of some of his potentially shady business dealings, Ashlee recruits her extended family to help her figure out just how criminal her husband might have been. The story unfolds at a leisurely pace, but the character portraits, especially of her extended family, make it much richer than most mysteries. In fact, her relationship with her sprawling, bi-racial family was one of the best things about th. flyby said Read it in one day. Lead s you into an old Southern family and way of life gone by. Family with lots of misconceptions and love that is so hidden from each other you just want to slap them and say.talk to each other.
