I loved the strong sense of place, bringing across the Irish characters with a clarity and wit, and no concession or explaining of the terms and customs, simply dropping the reader straight in, and letting you be immersed in the culture. (I still need to look up the sport of hurling, it sounds like things being thrown, but I guess a bat is involved?)The humor is dry and sophisticated, and reminded me of Douglas Adams.The story was well written, although i.
