Good songs, very basic- for Primer Level student; needs much embellishment to sound better for Level 1 students This is basically a primer level book. The songs are way too easy for a Level 1 student and needed a lot of notes added (by me) to make them more level appropriate. It is a good selection of movie songs and they provide duets, so adding notes was much simpler than having to compose them myself. Still- it is rather time consuming and annoying to have to do that. Also- the staffs are the size associated with a primer level student- meaning some songs are 6 pages long- not bc they are long songs, but bc the staffs are so large and spaced so far apart.. Easy to play kdea473 I bought this for one of my piano students (age 8, boy). He enjoys playing from it because it is something other than our lesson books. It unfortunately, the tunes are unrecognizable to him.I like that the hand position is shown for each song, and the songs are adequately simplified. For reference, he's been playing about 9 months, and is finishing up Alfred's complete level 1.. "Fun song book" according to Christina. My son loves learning songs out of this book. After our Disneyland trip, he's been playing the Indiana Jones song nonstop. A very fun book to get kids to stay on the piano.
